Lemonade Day FAQ

WHAT IS THE MY LEMONADE DAY MOBILE APP?
My Lemonade Day is a new and exciting digital app experience that takes the Lemonade Day curriculum to the next level! The My Lemonade Day app takes kids on an entrepreneurial journey, teaching them everything they need to know to open their very own business – a lemonade stand.
WHAT IS AN APPROPRIATE AGE FOR A MY LEMONADE DAY USER?
My Lemonade Day is available to youth of all ages; however it is targeted to youth in grades 2 – 6. While the lessons can be completed without adult assistance, the guidance of a parent, mentor, or caring adult can provide additional support in the learning process. Youth must be registered by a parent or mentor with a valid email address.
WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A MENTOR?
Mentors can be parents, guardians, siblings, teachers, youth organization leaders, family friends or grandparents. Any caring adult can help lead a child through the Lemonade Day lessons.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE ONLINE CONTENT AND CURRICULUM?
Within the My Lemonade Day app, there are 4 Modules and 21 Lessons. Lessons include an animated Lemmy Explains video series, interactive in-app tasks, slideshows, real-world field trips, budgeting tools, business plan, cash register, completion awards, badges and so much more!
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE MY LEMONADE DAY?
As a self-paced learning journey, youth typically can complete each of the lessons in My Lemonade Day within 5-15 minutes. Through mentorship, we encourage non-screen time with interactive activities and hands-on experiences. For example, the 3rd module, My Stand, will take additional time to complete. It includes real world activities to help youth prepare for their business’ event day. In its entirety, the My Lemonade Day app can take youth 1-5 hours to complete. We suggest mentors teach My Lemonade Day in 4 one-hour sessions to create a rich, meaningful experience.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE IN LEMONADE DAY?
My Lemonade Day is free to those participating in Lemonade Day cities. Visit lemonadeday.org/brandon-ms to find a list of participating cities near you.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER?
There is no national deadline for registration; however, there could be registration deadlines in your city so please check your city’s Lemonade Day website for more information. Even though there is no specific deadline, we strongly recommend that you register your youth at least a few weeks prior to Lemonade Day to allow them to get the most out of the My Lemonade Day curriculum.
HOW DO I ACCESS MY LEMONADE DAY?
The My Lemonade Day app is available on IOS, Android Devices and Chromebooks (with access to the Google Play store). To get started, first Mentors must register online for Lemonade Day through a participating city’s website. Mentors will create a profile and then add their learner(s). Once registered, learners will download the app from the App Store or Google Play store and enter their name and a Mentor Code to get started. Internet access is required for registration and app download but once downloaded, the app can be used offline and syncing will only be required for certain lessons.
WHERE CAN I FIND MY MENTOR CODE?
As a mentor, use the email address and the password you created when you registered to login to the Mentor Portal at LemonadeDay.org/brandon-ms. Above your learner cards/table, you will see your mentor code. It is a combination of the first 3 letters of your last name followed by a number.
WHEN I TRY TO ON-BOARD MY LEARNER, I KEEP GETTING AN ERROR ON MY MENTOR CODE SCREEN.
The learner name must be entered exactly as it appears on the learner card/table. More often than not, the error is not with the mentor code but with the way the learner name has been entered into the app. Please compare the name in the learner table with the name being entered into the app, it is case sensitive. Also, double check that the mentor code is accurate.
HOW DO I RESET MY LEARNER(S) PASSWORD?
Login to your mentor portal at LemonadeDay.org/brandon-ms. On your learner card, click View More and the Reset Password button. WHAT DO I DO AS A RETURNING USER?

WHO DO I CONTACT WITH MORE QUESTIONS?
Please feel free to email any questions to the City Director at Director@BrandonChamber.org or call at 601-214-8553.
Is this a one-day event or two-day event?
Lemonade Day Brandon MS is actually scheduled as a two-day event, Saturday & Sunday August 12th & 13th 2023. While it’s a rain or shine event, we recognize that serious weather may cause us to limit it to just one day. We’ll provide updates via the Brandon Chamber FB Page, the Brandon042® FB Page, as well as email to those who are registered.
How do I register my child for the program?
Just go to: https://lemonadeday.org/brandon-ms and click on the “register” button.
Is there a deadline to register for the program?
There’s no hard deadline, BUT there’s some work lessons for your child to complete via our mobile app or via our paper workbook, as well as some workshops in the weeks leading up to the weekend event (Aug 12th & 13th 2023). So you will definitely want to register your child as soon as possible, so they can experience all facets of the program.
Does my child setup their lemonade stand at our house, or somewhere else?
This may be determined by you and your child. We’ll encourage local businesses to register to be “Sweet Spots”, places for kids to put their lemonade stand. But if you want to have your stand at your home, you can do that as well. In either case, we’ll register your stand’s location, so it appears on our online map, as well as on the map in our mobile app (My Lemonade Day app, available in iOS and Android). We’ll also publish a list of businesses who have volunteered to allow stands to be setup in front of their business. As part of the program, there’s a rental fee paid to the business, typically in the amount of $1.00. We cover this during the training for you and your child, during the program.
How long does my child setup their lemonade stand during the event?
That may be determined by you and your child. However, we encourage everyone to have their stands during set hours, so the public will know when they may come by. We’ll discuss this in more detail during the training for you and your child, during the program.
What does the Lemonade Day program cost per child?
There is no fee at all to participate in the Brandon Chamber’s Lemonade Day. However, there may be some costs in erecting your child’s stand, but that’s strictly up to you and your child. In our experience, a lemonade stand may be as basic or as elaborate as desired. Some may use nothing more than a 6’ table and a tailgate tent, with a sign. Some may build something from materials they already have in their garage, while some may use scrap lumber. Be as creative as possible. We even have prizes for best stand! Need funds to design and build your child’s lemonade stand? The good news is we’ll have a workshop about building a stand, and the better news is that we even have an unbelievable “micro-loan” program with our primary sponsor, Community Bank!
As part of the program, Community Bank offers a micro-loan to each lemonade stand in our program, as well as some basic financial training. At the end of the event, the funds may be paid back to the bank… but guess what, if you and your child “pay” the money back to the bank, Community Bank will open a special savings account for your child… thus, giving the money BACK TO YOUR CHILD! This is a wonderful part of the program… a sponsor bank who is partnered with us in Lemonade Day, but also a sponsor who will provide small funds to your child and even give it back to them in a savings account, when the funds are “paid back”!
What role does Community Bank play in Brandon’s Lemonade Day?
Community Bank is Lemonade Day Brandon’s primary sponsor, which enables the Brandon Chamber to bring the program to the area. But Community Bank is doing so much more… As part of the program, Community Bank offers a micro-loan to each lemonade stand in our program, as well as some basic financial training. At the end of the event, the funds may be paid back to the bank… but guess what, when your child pays back the micro-loan, Community Bank will also reward your child by giving ½ of the loan amount back to your child IF you open a savings account in your child’s name at the bank with those funds.
For example, if your child receives $50 via a micro-loan from Community Bank, and after conclusion of Lemonade Day your child goes to the bank to pay back the $50, Community Bank will provide $25 back to you and your child if you use the funds to open a savings account in your child’s name.
This is a wonderful part of the program… a sponsor bank who is partnered with us in Lemonade Day, but also a sponsor who will provide small upfront funds to your child and even give back half of it when the funds are paid back! We’ll provide more details about this via email, Facebook posts, and our workshops.
The financial aspects of the program are a critical part, as it provides the child with financial training, financial responsibility, as well as understanding banking, sales, and reconciliation. We are grateful for Community Bank’s involvement with Lemonade Day Brandon MS, and hope every child and stand takes advantage of the available micro-loan part of the program.
Who gets the money from the sales at each Lemonade Stand?
The “owners” of the stand do! You and your child keep all sales, with the exception of the micro-loan provided by Community Bank. BUT, remember, when the micro-loan is paid back to Community Bank, they will give your child ½ of the loan back if you open a savings account at the bank in your child’s name… so you’ll end up keeping half of the loan amount too! This helps to reward the child, but also helps to teach them sales skills, the value of working and money, as well as how to manage their money. Maybe they’ll want to keep the money in their account and use it next year, to make their lemonade stand next year even bigger and better!
Nationwide, the average revenue of a child’s lemonade stand during a Lemonade Day event is $349+, with an average profit of just over $266! 75% of them met their goals set for the program!
Does a Lemonade Day involve one child or more, per stand?
Some stands will have 1 child, some may involve 3 children (such as siblings), and most will have 2 children working the stand. If a fellow child is involved in the stand, it provides an understanding of a partnership, support for each child, and may even make it more fun.
Are their prizes involved in Lemonade Day Brandon MS?
YES! We’ll have some judging and then award prizes for several things, including “Best Lemonade Stand”, “Best Tasting Lemonade”, and then the big prize will be a FREE BIKE to the stand with the overall highest sales! If there are 2 children in this top selling stand, both will receive a FREE BIKE.
Are there any meetings or workshops between now and the event in August 2023?
YES, we’ll have several workshops between now and the event, including recipe design, building a stand, financial and accounting for your stand, and more! We’ll keep everyone posted via email, as well as posts on the Brandon Chamber FB Page and the Brandon042® FB Page.
